If so, Carey-Sodergren has an immediate opening for a Septic Pump Truck Driver (Class A or B CDL) in Negaunee, Michigan. In this position you’ll operate a company service truck, travel to residential and commercial sites, and safely pump and dispose of non-hazardous waste while providing an essential, helpful service to our customers.

WORK SCHEDULE.
- Summer Season (May 1 – Oct 31): Full-time Monday–Friday schedule with about 10 hours of overtime each week (or more if you prefer).
- Winter Season (Nov 1 – Apr 30): Part-time hours as needed (usually around 10 hours per week).
- Prefer full-time year-round work? You can transition to full-time winter work plowing snow for clients.
- Emergency Call-Outs. Some flexibility is needed for occasional after-hours emergencies and trouble calls.
WHAT YOU WILL DO.
- Safely drive and operate a septic pump truck to pump, clean, and remove non-hazardous waste from residential and commercial septic systems.
- Set up hoses, connect to tanks, and use pumping equipment correctly while following safety guidelines.
- Complete daily pre-trip and post-trip checks — fluids, tires, tools, and supplies — and keep your truck clean, organized, and ready for the next job.
- Occasionally uncover septic tank lids or valves, then replace and backfill them; lift and handle hoses, tools, and equipment (50–65 lbs).
- Provide friendly, clear customer service by explaining the work being done, answering questions, and ensuring each customer feels well cared for.
- Note any defective system components, buildup, or hazards, and document your findings along with any recommended maintenance.
- Submit quotes, service paperwork, and work orders accurately and on time.
- Discuss appropriate service frequency with customers to help them maintain their systems effectively.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR.
- A valid Class A or B CDL (commercial driver’s license) with air brake and tanker endorsement.
- At least one year of professional commercial driving experience (post-school) preferred.
- Clean driving record with a reliable and responsible driving history.
- No restrictions (must be able to drive manual transmission)
- Good physical fitness and stamina — ability to lift heavy items, climb in/out of the truck, and handle physically demanding work in outside weather conditions.
- Strong communication skills and a friendly, customer-service attitude.
- Reliability, a good work ethic, and willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
